Throughout Turtle Mountain School Division road conditions are expected to be poor overnight and in the morning given precipitation which has fallen and temperatures dropping overnight. In addition, blizzard warnings have been issued for the entire area overnight and into tomorrow morning, with high winds expected throughout Thursday. As a result, all buses and classes within Turtle Mountain School Division are cancelled for Thursday, January 14, 2021. Any classes which are occurring remotely and which do not involve travel can occur, these students should verify with their applicable teachers.
As of this morning, Manitoba Highways has closed Highway 23 throughout Turtle Mountain School Division. As a result, buses and classes are cancelled for Minto School, and both Wellwood and Can-Am Colony Schools are closed today. Two bus routes to Killarney School, #44.72 (Dunrea), and #44.60 (Ninette) are also not running today. All other bus routes are running and will be at the discretion of bus drivers, as per division policy. Killarney, Boissevain, Mayfair, and Holmfield Schools are open.
According to Environment Canada, throughout Turtle Mountain School Division the temperature (including the wind chill) is expected to be -48 degrees Celcius as of 6:00 a.m. Thursday morning, January 16, 2020. As a result, all school buses and classes within Turtle Mountain School Division are cancelled for Thursday, January 16, 2020.
Very heavy snowfall and high winds are expected to begin Thursday night, and intensify throughout Friday, making travel very difficult and not advisable throughout Turtle Mountain School Division. Significant blizzard conditions are expected on Friday. As a result, all classes and busses within Turtle Mountain School Division are cancelled for Friday, October 11, 2019.
